Can you believe we are halfway through 2024?? I certainly cannot!!
I remember when I was a child and telling my grandmother that “time was going by so slowly.” She simply said “when you’re older, the years will go by very fast.” Of course, like with many of her other responses to me, she was right. And yet, I’m still so surprised at how fast time is moving!
Even with all that has been on my plate personally and professionally these first six months (and it’s been a LOT), I took some time to check out a platform that I believe will be a valuable tool for my speaker community.
First, let me say this – I have a marketing background. Before I ever got interested in public speaking and eventually started working fulltime for myself, I was working in corporate in marketing roles. Even though I am not in that world anymore, I still very much keep my ear to the ground when it comes to anything related to content creation. Besides just being plain old interested in it, as a speaker and trainer – I’m ALWAYS looking for how I can make my presentations stand out more and stick with my audience members.
This content creation platform that I had the opportunity to look into is called Visme. It’s a robust tool for creating documents (examples: reports, media press kits, and proposals), flyers, presentation slides, videos, social media graphics, charts/graphs, scatter plots, survey results reports, and a lot more. I like how it is very easy for a beginner to navigate around the site. Similar to how Canva is intuitive (in my humble opinion), so is Visme. For this review, I’m going to focus on an aspect of it that I think will be of particular interest to fellow speakers and trainers who have to create various presentation and marketing materials: AI
Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you know that artificial intelligence (AI) has taken…well, everything… by storm. And Visme is no exception. Can’t find the perfect photo or image that you need for your presentation? No problem – just create it in Visme! I tested out its AI Image Generator feature to create a marketing image to use in the promotion of my upcoming Speak with Confidence class (are you registered yet??). The more specific you are with what you are looking for, the better output you’ll have. My prompt for the image I needed was “An African American woman with curly hair who is speaking into a microphone at a conference.” Here is the result:
Pretty cool, huh?? I think so! You can tell it what output style you want as well, such as photo, painting, digital art, or 3D graphic to name just a few.
Not feeling creative with coming up with a title for your new presentation? Visme’s AI Writer has your back!! I tinkered with this tool to come up with a title idea for a YouTube video about unusual symptoms for public speaking anxiety. When typing in your request, you can specify the tone you’d like it to use. I chose “informal” for this one. I also asked for an “intriguing” title. The response it gave me was “5 weird signs you have public speaking anxiety! (You won’t believe #3!)” I decided to go with a different title, but this tool is excellent for brainstorming! I also used Visme to create the thumbnail image for this video. They give you a lot of thumbnail templates to choose from.
I think the AI tool I was most impressed with was the AI resize tool. I created a Facebook page cover image, and then wanted to recreate it for a LinkedIn cover image and Twitter profile cover image. All three of these sites require different dimensions for the image. With one click, I was able to create the other two images! The only con here is that I had to manually move some text and graphics around to their correct places on the LinkedIn and Twitter images. You’ll want to double-check that everything is where it should be.
Have a photo you want to use, but the background is…eh? Visme’s AI TouchUp tools lets you remove the background with just one click. Check out this example:
I decided to go with the former and keep my office background, but it’s great to have choices!
AI? Aye Aye, Captain!
Final Thoughts
Visme’s AI capabilities definitely make it a contender when it comes to platforms to use for your content creation needs. I also use Canva, and I like knowing there’s another powerful option to get creative tasks done quickly. Options are always good!!
With platforms like Visme and Canva, items of importance to me are:
I will continue to explore Visme more deeply since, like I mentioned earlier, it has a lot to offer and I want to leave “no stone unturned.” I am liking what I see so far, and highly recommend trying it out for yourself for your speaker needs.
May the rest of this year be amazing for us all!

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
