I want to speak, but I don’t know what to talk about…
I don’t have any interesting stories to use…
I really don’t have any experiences others would be that interested in hearing about…
All LIES!!
Listen, you have SO much speech content inside of you that you’d be AMAZED. You don’t think you have the stories and experiences that would bring LIFE to your speech, make your audience SIT UP, and hit your points home because you haven’t taken the time to reflect and record.
Great speakers are always looking back and reflecting on their life for those important lessons and unforgettable stories. And they record them somewhere they can access later for a speech.
How do you start getting this content?
By asking yourself questions to get the creative wheels turning and ideas generating, such as:
*What was a lesson you had to learn the hard way as a youth?
*What accomplishment from work are you most proud of? What was a failure for you?
*What’s the ONE life lesson you’d want someone to heed?
*What book has influenced you the most and why?
*Who was the most influential person in your life when you were growing up? What advice of theirs do you still follow?
*What are important conversations you had (with anyone) that still stick with you today?
*If you could go back and do something differently, what would it be?
*Why is the work you do important to you?
*What did you want to be when you grew up?
Content is EVERYWHERE! Capture the ideas when they come.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
